Please could you submit more information: Did I understand right that the installation of the VirtualBox 2.0.4 package on a Vista host fails? Is this x86 or amd64? Which failure was it? What happens if you log the installation with

msiexec /i VirtualBox-2.0.4-34806-Win_x86.msi /l* install.log

Please attach the resulting install.log file.

I was just using the executable as an admin and in the process it was like 98% complete It asks to authorize a file to run(830ba6.msi) and then it occurs. How do I run the code line above. I tried to just put it in the search bar and run and that didn't work. Do I need to put the installer on the drive not inside a folder. I should note that whatever occured when installing 2.0.4 would not allow install back of 2.0.2.

Good news: We believe to have fixed the problem in a development build recently. To test this build please send me an email to <my nickname> at sun dot com (to prevent spam). I'll send you a download location to try out this build then.

I happen to have needed to install recently and the most recent update of your program installed nicely without a hitch. The only other additional thing I had to do was install a newer version of the virtual guest addition to my virtual boxes.

BTW I love the "first start-up" feature which saved me some time setting up my virtual boxes.

The only weird thing is that on first load the virtual box brings the "virtual box holder" as I'm calling it for now to the front instead of the virtual box itself on first load.

Is there anything else left to be done here? To all who still have installation problems with VirtualBox >= 2.1

Please send me a mail at Mikhail dot Sennikovsky at sun dot com. I'll then send you a link to a new test version containing the installer fixes.
