1366x768 host resolution not supported in fullscreen or seamless mode => Fixed in SVN

Reported by: Warren Guy Owned by:
Component: GUI Version: VirtualBox 1.6.6
Keywords: resolution Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Linux

Description

My notebook (Sony VGN-TZ27GN) has screen resolution of 1366x768. In full screen mode, the guest resolution is 1360x768, centred in the screen, leaving 3 pixels empty at either side of the screen. In seamless mode, application windows are missing the right-most 3 pixels and gain an extra 3 pixels on the left, displaying the underlying desktop in the Guest (see attached screenshot). I've also attached the VBox.log showing (at 00:00:38.066) VMMDev::SetVideoModeHint detecting the correct resolution and then being set incorrectly with Display::handleDisplayResize().

FYI I have the exact same problem in 2.0.0

Still the same in 3.0.0. This is kind of annoying.

comment:4 by Aaron Maslen, 14 years ago

I can confirm that this bug is STILL present in 3.0.10

This problem has not been fixed for too long, this is getting really ridiculous! The Dell Inspiron uses 1366x768 as the default resolution,

comment:6 by Aaron Maslen, 14 years ago

It's still present in 3.1.4. Will it ever get fixed?

comment:7 by VB BCN, 14 years ago

STILL present in 3.1.6 Ubuntu 8.10 host, XP SP3 Guest.

My advice is try adding a custom resolution to your host system and then set it to that resolution, the nearest VGA wide-screen standard is 1360x768 just 6 off in width which is not a lot.

The next maintenance release will drop the constraint that the guest width must be a multiple of 8.
