#14812 closed defect (fixed)

SCSI storage does not request password for encrypted VM and freezes

Description

I have a Linux guest on a OSX host, version 5.0.10. The VM file is set as SCSI in VBox storage and it boots and runs ok. But if I encrypt the image, when I start it, VBox does not request a password and it freezes. If the VM file is set as SATA in VBox storage, the password is requested and the VM starts ok.

Is this problem 100% reproducible? From the log file it's obvious that the VM suspends for asking for the DEK phrase but it never reaches the suspended state. Therefore no dialog is shown.

Yes, it's 100% reproducible.

Thanks. The situation is now clear. This is problem with the SCSI device emulation and we need to think about a proper fix.
