Windows 2000 host lacking

Description

Windows 2000 host support was removed from VirtualBox 1.6, which is quite unfortunate, because this system is still used in some enterprises. Just few months ago I had to work on Windows 2000 to run some virtualization app on it.

Original discussion: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?p=22027#22027

since Windows 2000 and XP internally are brothers (nearly identical), I believe, that supporting Windows 2000 shouldn't take much effort.

Revive this host support if possible, even if limited. (no bridging, VT, 64-bit, whatever, ...)

This is a real blocker issue for *some* users.

Until a new release is made, which I also hope supports Windows 2000 hosts, Orca can be used to remove "NOT VersionNT=500" from the "LaunchCondition?" entry in the VirtualBox-1.6.0-Win_x86.msi installer. This will allow VirtualBox 1.6.0 to install and work properly on a Windows 2000 host. I haven't tested any network, SATA, or USB functionality to see if any of that is still working, but my old VMs load up without any problems.

Note that in version 1.5.6, this same entry had been "NOT VersionNT=400"

Does anybody know if 1.6.2 has fixed install?

It hasn't been changed in 1.6.2. We need to take a look at it later.

Set "NOT VersionNT=400" as in the old versions. Everything works fine, at least at first look. Thanks for the solution! BTW, I think this must be fixed, especially if there isn't any missing functionality.
