#129 closed defect (invalid)

Failure to hibernate when virtual machine running.

Description

While running Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy as a guest on Windows XP Media Center Edition (Build 2600, Service Pack 2, recently updated) I had the virtual machine running and attempted to hibernate my system. A balloon in the notification area indicated there were not enough free resources to hibernate and the mouse pointer became non-responsive. A reboot was necessary to correct the situation.

The hibernation was started through a hot-key. Perhaps there was too much (NP?) pool allocated for hibernate to work?

Physical machine specifications:

Toshiba Laptop T5500 Core 2 Duo @ 1.66GHz 2GB RAM

Virtual machine specifications:

514MB RAM 8MB Video RAM ACPI On APIC Off Ethernet interface in NAT mode.

I observed a similar problem: This is a Ubunty Feisty host running any flavor of Linux (e.g. Fedora Core 6 / Fedora 7).

When either of the two (guest or host) try to go into hibernation the host is blocked and won't wakeup again.
