Description

Running an openSUSE Factory installation in VirtualBox-3.4.6 r91406 on an openSUSE 13.1 host. I tried to install the Guest Additions 3.4.6. However generation and installation of most modules went OK, but I got the following error message when generating and installing the X Window System module:

Installing the Window System drivers Warning: unknown version of the X Window System installed. Not installing X Window System drivers.

Several xorg-x11 packages have versions starting with 7.6

By the way, you can get a test build of the current 4.3 Additions here:

Could you test VBox 4.3.8 RC1?

I am using VirtualBox-4.3-4.3.8 RC1 now with the VBoxGuestAdditions_4.3.8_RC1.iso installed. BTW the above mentioned 4.3.7-92075 did work alright and all modules are build, also now the 4.3.8 RC1.

However starting the virtual machine has a long delay. The system uses systemctl to start all processes. The command systemd-analyze critical-chain reports graphical.target @3min 31.042s, which confirms the slow start up of the system. This was also the case before installing VBoxGuestAdditions 4.3.8 RC1 but 4.3.7 was installed.

I see this too (in my case it is over 7s), but are you sure this is related to the Guest Additions? The main components highlighted here are postfix, SuSEfirewall2_init and plymouth-start.

Fix is part of VBox 4.3.8.
