Unable to switch host virtual desktops after upgrade to 4.3

Description
After upgrading to VirtualBox 4.3 from 4.2.16, I find that once a VM is open in full-screen mode, I am unable to switch virtual desktops on the host.
I run ICEWM on FC18 and have four virtual desktops, in one of which I run VirtualBox with WinXP as a guest. Prior to the upgrade to 4.3, I was able to switch host virtual desktops using with the toolbar "1", "2", "3", "4" icons or with a CTRL-LeftArrow or CTRL-RightArrow key press. Normally the host ICEWM toolbar is hidden and when I move the cursor to the bottom of the screen, the toolbar appears and I can choose a desktop by clicking on the "1", "2", "3", or "4" icons.
After the upgrade to 4.3, I am now unable to switch the host desktop away from the full-screen VirtualBox session. The ICEWM toolbar still appears and I can click on the 1,2,3,4 but the desktop I wish to switch to only briefly flashes on the screen and then the desktop returns to the VirtualBox session. The host desktop is essentially locked to the desktop in which VirtualBox is running. The behavior is the same whether trying to switch using the toolbar icons or the CTRL- arrow keys.
Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
