Suggestions for contributions

This page maintains a list of possible enhancements to VirtualBox which are well-suited for external contributors, either because InnoTek is not currently working on them or because they have been deemed of lower priority than other tasks.

• You are more than welcome to help with the Mac OS X port.

• Help with porting VirtualBox to Solaris / OpenSolaris

• A FreeBSD port (and possibly OpenBSD and NetBSD)

• On Linux, a D-Bus interface to our XPCOM API would ease desktop integration

• A project to provide a direct Gnome desktop integration is about to start

• We'd like to see a Web Services API implemented in .NET / Mono

• Guest Additions for FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, OS/2, ...

• Add the ability to mount host partitions / drives as guest drives

• Support VMware disk images (VMDK) and Virtual PC image (VHD)

• Make VDI hard disk images expandable (first check whether common guests would actually survive that operation)

• Port legacy device drivers from QEmu to VirtualBox (for example SoundBlaster 16)
