    v16 v17
33We want our users and developers to stay in touch and work together to make !VirtualBox the virtualization solution of choice. Therefore we have created a couple of mailing lists that everyone is encouraged to subscribe to. In addition, an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channel has been set up for live discussions about the product.

    5 == Mailing lists ==
     5 * [wiki:"Mailing_lists" Mailing lists]
    66
7 The !VirtualBox mailing lists are our preferred means of staying in touch with you. However, this only works if the !VirtualBox community respects a couple of rules:
    8
9  1. Choose the right mailing list for your posting. Do not ask "How do I create a VM?" on the developer mailing list.
    10
11  2. Search the mailing list archive before posting. Most likely your request has already been addressed in the past.
    12
13 Currently, the following mailing lists exist:
    14
    15  * '''!VirtualBox announcements list'''
    16
17  This is a low-volume list with !VirtualBox-related announcements, such as notifications about new versions. It's always a good idea to  subscribe to this list. Only the !VirtualBox maintainers can post here.
    18
    19  List address: http://www.virtualbox.org/mailman/listinfo/vbox-announce
    20
21  * '''!VirtualBox user discussions list'''
    22
23  This is the right place for end users to discuss !VirtualBox, ask for help, report problems, help others, etc. Please keep in mind that the list volume might become quite high.
    24
    25  List address: http://www.virtualbox.org/mailman/listinfo/vbox-users [[BR]]
    26  Gmane interface: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.virtualbox.general
    27
    28  * '''!VirtualBox developers list'''
    29
30  This mailing lists targets software developers working on !VirtualBox or making use of the !VirtualBox application programming interfaces (APIs). It does not target end users.
    31
    32  List address: http://www.virtualbox.org/mailman/listinfo/vbox-dev [[BR]]
    33  Gmane interface: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.virtualbox.devel
    34
    35 == Internet Relay Chat (IRC) ==
    36
37 If you want to have a live chat with other !VirtualBox users, all you have to do is join one of our IRC channels.
    38
    39 Server: `irc.freenode.org`
    40
41 We now have two channels:
    42
    43  * For !VirtualBox '''users''': `#vbox` (irc://irc.freenode.org/vbox)
    44
45  * For current and prospective !VirtualBox '''developers''': `#vbox-dev` (irc://irc.freenode.org/vbox-dev)
    46
47 Deutschsprachige Anwender sind auch gerne im Kanal `#vboxger` willkommen (irc://irc.freenode.org/vboxger)
    48
