#9660 closed defect (obsolete)

Switching to VirtualBox Ubuntu machine only shows some part of screen (rendering problem) — at Version 7

Reported by: Florin Owned by:
Component: GUI Version: VirtualBox 4.1.2
Keywords: render, screen, Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Linux

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

All the times I use the host machine and want to go back to the virtual machine (Ubuntu in full screen), the screen is a combination of host desktop&open_windows and a part (what is dynamic) of the virtual machine screen. See the attached screenshot as an example.

To repaint the screen, I must click on any running program's status bar.

Does disabling 3D passthrough fix this?

comment:2 by Florin, 13 years ago

I don't know what 2D passthrough is, but if you're talking about 3D acceleration, it's activated. I would rather have it active as without that I cannot test the Oneiric Ocelot features.

3D, sorry for misspelled word.

comment:4 by Florin, 13 years ago

I've tested and it really is about 3D. I logged in using Unity 2D (3D still active in VirtualBox machine settings) and now it's rendered correctly. I see you already knew about this bug, is there a solution?

So far, the only workaround is to have composing manager running on your host system, like compiz/unity/aero etc.

I have Compiz running on Natty and also the bug on virtual machines.
