VHD image corruption when no space left on the host partition

I have Windows7 32-bit guest on dynamically allocated VHD. Unfortunately no space left on the host partition where the VHD image resides during the guest OS were running. The guest OS crashed and the VM fails to start anymore. VirtualBox reports about VERR_VD_VHD_INVALID_HEADER error.

Please reopen if still relevant with VBox 4.1.16. Your error description sounds like VBox did not halt when this condition occurred (it should pause the VM and give the user the ability to free space on the host drive). There were some fixes after 4.1.0 so I assume this problem is resolved.
