Networking - Host-Only settings ignored after upgrade

Reported by: Ion Owned by:
Component: network/hostif Version: VirtualBox 4.1.0
Keywords: Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows

Description (last modified by aeichner)

Custom settings for the Host-Only adapter are not retained after an upgrade; the files "VirtualBox.xml" and VirtualBox.xml-prev" contain the right info :

<ExtraDataItem name="HostOnly/VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter/IPAddress" value="198.51.100.1"/>
<ExtraDataItem name="HostOnly/VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter/IPNetMask" value="255.255.255.240"/>

... but applied seetings are the default ones :

Carte Ethernet VirtualBox Host-Only Network :

   Suffixe DNS propre à la connexion. . . :
   Adresse IPv6 de liaison locale. . : fe80::bcef:ff6a:cd5f:f9b%43
   Adresse IPv4. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.56.1
   Masque de sous-réseau. . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Passerelle par défaut. . . . . . . . . :

Just upgraded from 4.0.12 to 4.1 to confirm the bug is still present.

Exact same problem, but on fresh install. Problem exists on both: Virtualbox 4.1.6 host Windows Ultimate 7 Virtualbox 3.2.10 OSE (debian squeeze package from debian repo) host Debian Squeeze (stable) Any changes to IP, netmask and/or DHCP get lost.

when you change the IP range and then open the settings again: it shows the IP address info you changed. If you close network settings all together in virtualbox and open it again: bye bye settings it's back to it's original 192.168.x.y setting

tested with various IP-ranges/addresses including 10.x.y.z
