BSOD on playing CSS encrypted DVD with passthrough enabled

Description (last modified by aeichner)

I'm trying to playback CSS encrypted DVDs on a Debian guest system under a Windows XP/SP3 host.

Without 'passthrough' enabled CSS decryption fails in side the Linux guest system because (I guess) the encrypted data is not transferred from Windows host -> Linux guest.

Enabling 'passthrough' of the VM: Linux guest starts, first seconds (with xine) of playback also starts (the menu part seems to be not encrypted).

In the moment when CSS data should be passed (through), the Windows host throws a BSOD with vmmr0.r0 as the culprit.

After upgrading the guest additions to 4.1.0 (Debian package was not available at the time filing the bug), I get no longer blue screens!

Needless to say that the VM guest should not crash the VM host regardless of the version of the guest additions...
