#8970 new defect

Failed to load unit 'pgm' (VERR_SSM_INTEGRITY_DECOMPRESSION)

Reported by: art Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 4.0.8
Keywords: Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows

Description

Failed to load unit 'pgm' (VERR_SSM_INTEGRITY_DECOMPRESSION)

occurs in v4.08

have a virtual world that is frozen in time with virtualbox guest additions service disabled in vw. when a restore is done, this error now appears. used to be able to freeze time on vb machine a few versions back without problems and save its state then restore etc. unable to do this now without getting an error on the restore state. very problematic. seems like there's some new check that flags the vw when the date is out of sync possibly and its keeping the vw from being restored.

thank you, art

For me the same error message when restoring VM after successfully saving machine state:

Hi,

I found the source of the problem - it was ... HDD !!! I replaced the HDD and problem disappeared :)

Issue is closed for me. Regards

Same problem here with version 4.1.16 and all the previous i've tried: I started in 2010 with v. 3.2.4, the problem appeared for the first time when I updated to v.4.0. and since then, i face it every time I decide to update.

The strange thing is that it starts occuring *ONLY after i've upgraded* VirtualBox from an older to a newer version. The workaround is to create a new VM using the same virtual hard disks... so this is discouraging from updating VirtualBox to newer versions (personal opinion).

My environment: Host: Win XP Sp3, 2GB RAM on AMD Core2 Duo; VM: Win XP SP3 , 640 MB RAM, single CPU; It uses two virtual HDDs, both of them located on an external removable (USB) hard disk; In addition, a number of shared folders on the host is mapped as network drives for remote storage purpose.

Here follows the message i get every time i try to resume from a seved state, hope it helps... --- " Apertura di una sessione per la Macchina Virtuale WinXP_VB6 non riuscita.

Failed to load unit 'pgm' (VERR_SSM_INTEGRITY_DECOMPRESSION).

Codice 'uscita: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Componente: Console Interfaccia: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb} "

Of course, if I discard the saved machine and start it from power-off state, all works great.

Best regards,

Massimo - Italy

I had the same problem. Tried reusing the HDD, but the new VM had the same problem, as well.

Went back to the original VM, discarded the saved state, rebooted, and windows came up in repair mode. This worked for me.

Occurs in 4.2 also.

I ran fsck on the Linux host. It didn't find any problems.

I get the error: Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows7.

Failed to load unit 'pgm' (VERR_SSM_INTEGRITY_DECOMPRESSION).

Removing saved state of course helps, but we save state not to remove it later but reuse. So it's very desired to have this thing fixed.

Have it on latest 5.2.6, didn't have before. Linux hosts, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with all latest updates and Vbox tools installed.

filippos error

In my case that problem went away by creating a new machine but using the same disk. Cloning the original did not work, so obviously there is something amiss when starting old VMs with a new version of VirtualBox.

I resolve this issue, I pressed the arrow discard the saved state. It reset the virtual machine. And then it works rightly.
