Is there any crash report or does the host completely freeze?

These is no crash report that I have been able to identify. The last time it froze, the words PANIC on a black background appeared in the upper left-hand corner.

There were additional OSX host fixes in VBox 4.0.10 so it might be worth a try to upgrade. Oh, and please make sure that you enable VT-x for your VMs!
