4.0.4 update check does not work on Mac

Description
quite simply, version 4.0.4 on Mac has a broken update feature. It claims to this day it's the latest version and nothing new is available. Windows version knew just fine that 4.0.6 was released. Hope this was fixed in 4.0.6
