tcpdump not seeing vboxnet0

It might be related to bug #8076.
I have NAT and vboxnet0 (host only) setup between MacOSX 10.6.7 (host) and XP SP3 (Guest with tools installed) on Host:
tcpdump -D shows
1.fw0 2.en0 3.en1 4.lo0
ifconfig shows
vboxnet0: flags=8943<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
ether 0a:00:27:00:00:00 inet 192.168.77.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.77.255

This works for me with OS X 10.10 and VirtualBox 4.3. Something must have been fixed some time during those past 4 years.
Still a problem in vbox 4.0.6 pon mac 10.6.7
