It might be related to bug #8076.

I have NAT and vboxnet0 (host only) setup between MacOSX 10.6.7 (host) and XP SP3 (Guest with tools installed) on Host:

tcpdump -D shows

1.fw0 2.en0 3.en1 4.lo0

ifconfig shows

ether 0a:00:27:00:00:00 inet netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast

  • Keywords tcpdump added; tcpbump removed
  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Component changed from network to network/hostif
  • Description modified (diff)

This works for me with OS X 10.10 and VirtualBox 4.3. Something must have been fixed some time during those past 4 years.
