Description (last modified by )
When the VirtualBox directory is located on a second HDD on the computer, DATA for example, it is not possible to create the machines as we get the message : "cannot create the machine folder" (no permission). As the second file is a NTFS Win7 filesystem, we cannot change permissions.
In the older versions of Virtualbox this did not cause any problems. We are under Ubuntu 10.10 (completely updated).

As the logged in user I have read and write permission on the second HDD but it looks as if VirtualBox doesn't have it. What to do ?

Replying to frank:
Well, if you don't have the permission to write to that disk there isn't much we can do about it, right? The user which runs VirtualBox must be able to write to that disk. Note that with VirtualBox 4.0 the default folder location has changed.

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
