Description (last modified by )
TT 2010 worked well in VB 3.2 on Linux host (Ubuntu Lucid). After upgrading to TT 4.0.4 (Feb 18th), program will not launch. (All other XP programs work fine). I believe TT is compiled onto the running O/S. The error code if from an intuit environmental variable called intuit.ctg.wte.service and the error code is 17800333213. Un-installing, rebooting and installing (the guest OS) has no effect.
Downgrading to 3.2 permits proper functioning of 2010 TurboTax.

I confirm that Turbo Tax 2010 fails on 4.0.4 with the "intuit.ctg.wte.service" error.

Yes, I believe so. See this post here: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=38236
I think given how long TT takes to install, that it compiles against the running O/S (in this case the WinXP inside the VB). When it does so, it can't get a read on the new 2D/3D driver in VB 4+ and then barfs. If you pull (install) the GuestAdditions and then uncheck 2D/3D supposedly it will work. Downgrading back to 3.2 also is a temp workaround.

Oops, That should be UNINSTALL the GuestAdditions in the post above.
Incidentally, TT 2010 installs in VB 3.2 WITH the GuestAdditions installed.
