Which is the last VBox 4 version you tried?

comment:3 by ManU, 13 years ago

4.0.4 it is still a regression bug, since in 3.2.12 it worked!

comment:4 by Frank Mehnert, 13 years ago

To me it looks like some special kernel config setting. Please could you attach your kernel configuration? 2.6.37 works very well here...

comment:5 by ManU, 13 years ago

frank with this kernel vbox 3.2.12 runs without problems (compiled against this kernel), this bug exists since 4.0. with the latest windows release it does work also.

i think its a regression-bug in the linux fork... how to paste the config settings? i dont compile kernels by myself

comment:6 by ManU, 13 years ago

I tested it under Windows as host, there all works fine with: vbox 4.0.4r7xxx

so its only a regression in the linux fork since 4.0.0

comment:7 by Frank Mehnert, 13 years ago

Can you attach a VBox.log file from a VM session where this crash happens? Regarding the kernel config, I don't know where Gentoo stores the kernel config but it is normally the file .config in the root directory of the Linux tree.

Crashes also with kernel 2.6.38, here is the log:

comment:9 by ManU, 13 years ago

does the log help?

comment:10 by ManU, 13 years ago

Also crashing with 4.06 r71344 http://pastie.org/1821956

but sicne 4.0.4 the bug changed from a total crash of vboxdrv to this strnge mouse pointer bug, but the result is the same, i need to kill the virtual machine process.

under windows it does work and also with other hosts. it also does not work with any mac osx guest if that helps...

comment:12 by ManU, 13 years ago

before freezing the window flickers fast between black and the graphical Xserver of the vm

comment:13 by ManU, 13 years ago

also happens with release 4.1.2

the module crashes and the window freezes

Please attach the complete VBox.log file of this session to this ticket. Do NOT paste the content!

comment:15 by Frank Mehnert, 13 years ago

This could be also related to #7390 so if your guest uses PAE, try to disable it.
