Making fullscreen (CTRL+F) crashes the VM

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

Just want to report an random bug that does not happen very often, that when making fullscreen (CTRL+F) crashes the VM.

What I usually do:

  • Work on a VM with WAMP (installed software on the VM: Win XP, Apache, MySQL, PHP and Tomcat 6, Java, PHP-JavaBridge). Well, mostly PHP development.
  • After work, I close the lid and the computer hibernates.
  • Next day, the computer starts normally restoring hibernated session.
  • The happens when the VM window is restored and I do CTRL+F to make fullscreen.
  • The Windows 7 says that VirtualBox's session stopped responding.
  • Clicking OK, closes the VM.

Not that I consider the crash very important as everything is saved, but just want to report it.

also happens to me, using vbox 4.0.4 r70112 on ubuntu 10.04 "lucid lynx".
it also happens switching in or out of the new "scale mode".
it usually happens only once in a while with no apparent reason, but repeatedly toggling either "full screen" or "scale mode" a few times in a row has a high chance to to crash.
i never let the machine suspend nor hibernate with vbox running, i always close the vm first.

VirtualBox 4.1.4 crashes like you said. The difference is that I don't close the lid and don't even let the machine suspend nor hibernate. It often crashes I change from "scale mode" to "full screen".

This bugs happens to me very often:

-when switching from resized screen to fullscreen (most of the time) -the other way around

my host is Window 7 Enterprise x64 my quest is Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1

The behaviour seems somehow correlated to the "adjust screen size automatically"(I translated from french) checkbox see previously attached log
