Failed to create a fixed medium storage unit Callee RC:NS_ERROR_CALL_FAILED (0x800706BE)

Hi there,

after installing the Maverick Meerkat and VBox via download I tried to create a virtual storage unit. The GUI crashes in the beginning, showing the status on 0%.
Aborting the process via button does not work, I have to manually kill the process "VBoxSVC", getting the report that the virtual storage unit could not be created, getting the error message:
Callee RC:NS_ERROR_CALL_FAILED (0x800706BE)
Still vboxsvc remains as a zombie in the process table.

Which path did you use for the new hard disk? And was it on an external medium or on the built-in hard disk?

Hi! Sry, but what do you mean by "path"? I tried it on the built-in hard drive, finally I decided to reinstall Ubuntu 10.04, where VBox works fine.
