Ubuntu virtualbox-4.0 package upgrade hangs on rmmod vboxnetadp

Host: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS 32-bit Upgrading from virtualbox-4.0 4.0.0-69151 to virtualbox-4.0_4.0.2-69518 kernel: 2.6.32-26-generic

Upgrade stops after "Stopping VirtualBox kernel modules" and waits forever... system does not freeze, but cannot "kill -9" the rmmod process.. reboot is required.
