Reported by: | Lyall Pearce | Owned by: | |

Component: | USB | Version: | VirtualBox 4.0.0 |
Keywords: | usb hub | Cc: | |
Guest type: | Windows | Host type: | Linux |
Description (last modified by )
Virtualbox 4.0.0 OSE with oracle extension pack will forward a USB 2 device (say a USB key) to the guest OS as USB 2, if it is plugged directly into the Linux Host. However, if the Device is plugged into a USB 2 HUB, the device is presented as USB 1.1. (Windows says the device can perform faster...)
Running on Intel i7 M 620 Linux Kernel 2.6.35 64 bit Distro: Gentoo (kernel version is actually 2.6.35-gentoo-r15)
Tested in both USB2 and USB3 ports.
Kernel config attached

This is the cause of the problem described here. If I plug the ActivIdentity USB SIM directly into the Linux host, it is available, if I plug it into a HUB, it is not.
