Description (last modified by )
I am running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. I had previously installed and used an older version of Virtualbox (not certain which version, but suspect it was 3.2). However, I uninstalled it and I suspect it was not properly removed via the uninstaller. As a result, when I try to install this latest version (4.0), the installer stops and says it cannot uninstall the older version of Virtualbox. I have tried to reinstalled all the older version of Virtualbox from 3.2 all the way to 3.0 without success (I get the same error message about not being able to uninstall the older version of Virtualbox). I have included the installation log file.

The log file states that "The older version of Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.0.0 cannot be removed." because of "Unexpected or missing value (name: 'PackageName', value: )" -- this basically means that either something went very wrong while uninstalling an older version of VBox or that some third-party tool/application messed up the installation database in the registry. Did you try to run the MSI cleanup utility? See http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/MSI_Logging in section "Cleaning Up".

Thanks for replying!
Yes I've already tried it with no success. I can't remember the exact details, but I'm certain I either used some third party program or did manual registry deletes to uninstall. I did this because I was having the same issue upgrading to a newer version of Virtualbox.
Any other ideas? Is there any way to manually remove all traces of Virtualbox having been installed in order to install the latest version? Thanks again.
