Regression: SUSE Linux 9.1 ceased to install

Reported by: Technologov Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 1.5.2

Description

SUSE Linux 9.1 guest doesn't installs anymore in 1.5.2. It worked fine with 1.5.0.

I believe there is a BIOS regression somewhere between those two versions.

Host: Windows XP SP2, Intel Core 2 CPU.

BINGO ! I found it: It is r4718 that killed SUSE 9.1 ! http://www.virtualbox.org/changeset/4718 (trunk/src/VBox/Devices/Storage/DevATA.cpp (modified) (7 diffs))

Host: openSUSE 10.3, 32-bit.

Workaround: If I simply copy an old version of this file to 1.5.2 code, and compile the whole, it works now !

Of course someone will need to make a real fix.

Personal achievement:

It took me 5 hours to find it between 1.5.0 and 1.5.2 ! REALLY GREAT considering that I never did that before with VirtualBox code :) !

(thanks to my lovely Core 2 Quad system with 4 Gigs RAM, that compiled VirtualBox in 2 minutes with -j5 flag ! he-he - a REAL timesaver)

Final idea: So who to blame for that commit ?!? :)
