sudden storm of guest aborted

Description (last modified by )
Virtualbox has been rock solid for 8+ months (with continuous uptimes of 30-60 days) on an Ubuntu 9.10 guest in a Mac os X 10.6.4 host. Last reboot of either guest or host was 25 days ago. Suddenly today the Ubuntu guest is crashing with guest aborted as soon as I login to X windows. I can avoid logging in and use remote X without the crashes, so it might very well be display related.
- 3D is enabled
- I have two monitors, and the guest screen is manually set to a huge resolution that spans both monitors
I can provide other information if needed, however I will need to get this up soon, so I will likely update to 3.2.10 sometime tomorrow.

between remote X and a VNC desktop, I can hang tough for a few days before I do anything to this install. If a developer would like me to change settings or provide more information, I would be happy to do so.

I had to wait until the weekend to get time to mess with this. I did the following two things, the first of which was probably unnecessary:
- Updated ubuntu security updates, rebuilt vbox drivers
- Turned off 3d in the guest
So far, everything seems to be working.
clarification: Initial crash occurred while interacting with Virtualbox window running X Windows. Subsequent crashes occur after login to X while my session is restoring, and new windows are populating the screen. As best as I can recall, none of the applications are anything out of the ordinary - just standard konqueror, consoles, firefox, etc.
