NAT adapter gives wrong external source IP

Reported by: WeblionX Owned by:
Component: network/NAT Version: VirtualBox 3.2.10
Keywords: nat external connection IP gateway Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Linux

Description

I am using an Ubuntu 10.04 host with a Windows 7 guest. It has three network adapters, one of which is a NAT adapter for Internet access. Similar to bug #6524, connections from external IPs (from the Internet) show up in the guest as coming from 10.0.4.2 (The gateway). Also, incoming UDP packets failed to forward properly. Running, in my case: VBoxManage modifyvm "03.Windows 7 Pro" --nataliasmode3 proxyonly fixed the issue.

Currently VBox NAT supports several types of NAT (please look at NAT), which your are able switch with natalias parameter.

Replying to Hachiman:

In that case it seems like the default option is a poor choice.
