Unable to provision new virtual disks to running VMs

It would be very useful to have the ability to add/assign the new virtual disks to the running VMs.

That's planned, but as it's a substantial amount of work it's unknown when it will be available. It will only work for controllers which support hotplugging, and just to state it explicitly: IDE will never be able to do this.

Understandable, I did actually mean SCSI or SES/SATA controllers, not IDE. I also understand it's hard to tell when it'll be around, but can you estimate - months, years, decades?

Done long ago, the SATA controller supports disk hotplugging.
