Iniitial installation of safari crashes Windows VM — at Initial Version

opensuse v11.2, linux 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop x86_64, windows xp sp3
I installed (as root) the latest version of Apple's Safari browser, 5.0 (7533.16). After installation I started Safari. VBox crashed. I repeated the attempt to start Safari until it actually did start, about 5 attempts. (Each successive attempt showed that it got a little further along. Otherwise I would have simply removed it.) Once Safari got past having to load its default home page, all seems well.
The same pattern occurred in a non-root account as well.
