Mouse and keyboard not working in Ubuntu 9.04 after update to 3.2.4 (with Guest additions)

Description

After updating the guest additions for 3.2.4 in Ubuntu 9.04 the mouse and keyboard in the guest system stopped working. Attached you can find the log. How can I disable the guest additions without the mouse and keyboard working? Previously I had installed 3.2.2 and both input devices worked flawlessly (had installed 3.2.2 guest additions as well). My host OS is Mac OS X 10.6.3.

You can close this, I fixed it by removing the guest-additions on the recovery console via /opt/VBoxGuestAdditions-3.2.4/uninstall.sh. Installing it again after normal reboot and now everything works as normal. Maybe a problem with updating from 3.2.2 to 3.2.4?

I experienced exactly the same on Karmic - Virtualbox 3.2.4 remapping from a UK keyboard to a French keyboard (z exchanged with y, : exchanged with /) several times even during the same Windows XP session without a hibernate or a pause or anything (I did switch between fullscreen and windowed occasionally).

I'm trying an uninstall, reboot, reinstall and reboot now. However, since the automated Guest installer doesn't do this, or direct users to do this, it is indeed a bug and should remain open.

The bug can be addressed directly by fixing the behaviour, or indirectly by making sure that the guest additions installer routine is different, but until at least something is done it's a bug, since following the Virtualbox instructions will lead people to this broken behaviour.

I find that even with the guest extensions entirely removed, this problem still exists when running a Windows XP guest on a Karmic host. A workaround when the keyboard gets unexpectedly remapped is to switch out of fullscreen, and then back to fullscreen, which seems to remap the keys.

Problem still exists after reinstalling the Guest additions on my system (Windows XP Guest, Karmic host, 3.2.4). Workaround is still to toggle fullscreen.
