GUI/MaxGuestResolution doesn't have any effect — at Version 1

Despite setting GUI/MaxGuestResolution to 1024,768, the guest OS is still able to switch to 1280x1024

There are no guest additions installed

Guest: OpenSolaris b134
Host: MandrivaLinux 2010

$ VBoxManage setextradata global GUI/MaxGuestResolution 1024,768
$ VBoxManage getextradata global enumerate

log file. the penultimate line is gdm switching to 1280x1024. After login, gnome switches to 1024x768
