Description (last modified by )
Struggled with USB. Eventually looked at the log files, and found the following entry:
00:00:10.548 SharedFolders host service: connected, u32ClientID = 1 00:00:10.897 OHCI: USB Suspended 00:00:11.229 EHCI: USB Suspended
On checking, I found that this showed at every start up. I removed all shared folders, and it made no difference.
I couldn't find any way to disable the SharedFolders service.

I have changed power management on both host and guest to always on and specifically disabled USB suspend on the Windows 7 host and it still doesn't work!

So *what* doesn't work?? Until you provide at least a description about whichever problem you're having we can't help you.

Host: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Guest: Windows XP Pro SP3
I found and cleared all references to powering off USB in the guest OS power management settings; there were none set in the Host.
According to the log file attached the USB is now operational. I have one filter set for a Canon CAPT printer, which is showing in the list as captured when hovering over it with the mouse, but it does not show as attached. Clicking on it again gives an error message saying it is busy with a previous request.
I have been struggling with this problem now on and off for five days; I have searched on the internet and found other people with similar problems (one, even, with the identical problem) but no solutions.
I have un-installed and re-installed VB twice to no avail. I have tried other USB devices (with appropriate filters set) also to no avail.

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
Wrong conclusion. The USB controllers are suspended because of power management.
