Cut/copy/paste between winXP guest and linux host stops working

Reported by: James Moe Owned by:

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

opensuse v11.2 linux .6.27.45-0.1-default x86_64

After some indeterminate period of time, cut/copy/paste between a windows guest and a linux host ceases to function. Usually simply logging off the windows session, not a shutdown, and logging back on is enough to clear the problem for some indeterminate period of time.

It persists in v3.1.8 through v3.2.6_63112_openSUSE111-1.x86_64.

This also happes with a WINXP(x86) host and a Linux(Ubuntu-amd64) guest.

In this situation:

  • typically the running guests is not suspendable (progress bar stops at ~97%) => I have to try to kill the virtualbox window several times
  • Simply restarting virtualbox does not solve the problem
  • Killing in the taskmanager all Virtualbox processes solves the problem
  • Rebooting the winxp host also solves the problem

It seems that virtualbox blocks the shared clipboard of WINXP....
