USB disk drives greyed out in virtualbox 3.1.6 — at Initial Version

Description
I can see the attached USB devices bit they are all grayed out. I use Mac OS X 10.5.8.
I have 2 usb drives one Imation APOLLO 320 GB and other one Western Digital My Book 1 TB Though Virtualbox has detected these two they are greyed out and I cannot mount them
