dladm fails on OpenSolaris 2009.06 guest

Hi,
I'm running VBox 3.1.4 on Windows XP SP3. I created an OSol 2009.06 guest and tried to run dladm. It failed as shown below:
root@opensolaris:~# dladm create-vnic -l e1000g0 test dladm: invalid link name 'test'
Here's my ifconfig output...I disabled nwam service (cos i read some article about there being issues with nwam and dladm and vnics) and manually configured the nic.
root@opensolaris:~# ifconfig -a lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000 e1000g0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2 inet 10.0.2.15 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 10.0.2.255 ether 8:0:27:8d:4:48 lo0: flags=2002000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv6,VIRTUAL> mtu 8252 index 1 inet6 ::1/128
