Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

Hello,

I have an HP laptop and i did some work on trying to install vista on a VM. The installation would stop saying that i have not the correct product.

I tried to change the system and bios dmi information of my vm without any luck. I gave a try to vmware and i could install vista after modifying the vmware bios. If i modify the Motherboard model in the vmware bios (with the phoenix bios editor), the installer recognize the VM as a correct product and let me perform the installation.

I looked in http://www.virtualbox.org/browser/trunk/src/VBox/Devices/PC/DevPcBios.cpp#L899 and i couldnt see any DMI settings for the motherboard.

Would it possible to add them ( i dont know how difficult it would be...)?

Thank you,

Xavier

All of the following "Base Board Information" would be handy to be able to add:

Base Board Information

Manufacturer Product Name Version Serial Number

I need it to run the control program for our IP based lock system. It uses the motherboard serial number for some sort of licensing purpose.

DMI table 2 can be overridden, at least with VBox 4.3.x.
