Can not connect from guest to host using virtio-net and NAT

Description
Works fine with intel driver, windows xp both host and guest, guest additions installed
- setup network adapter as NAT
- on host nc -l -p 2000
- on guest nc <host ip> 2000
Connection establishes but no data gets through
