Unable to change display resolution in Windows 2000 (128MB VRAM) — at Version 5

Description (last modified by )
I installed a Windows 2000 Professional guest in VirtualBox 3.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 host.
Without guest additions, it offers me only 640x480 and 800x600 display resolutions.
I installed guest additions.
Whenever I try to resize the display by resizing the VirtualBox window from the default 640x480, the display enters into a perpetual "redraw display" loop, while staying at 640x480 resolution (although in Control Panel, it shows the amended display resolution). I am completely unable to find the cause of this, or a workaround.

Kubuntu Natty guest, running Windows 2000 Server, SP4 with Post SP4 rollup.
Related problem - attempted to do clean install with 128 megs ram to test driver again, and system restarts setup at least once, sometimes twice.

Clean install. Install drivers on Gold - "the graphics driver returned an unexpected error" Install drivers on SP4 - "the graphics driver returned an unexpected error". Installed DX9 - no change.
Installed Virtualbox 4.1.0 video drivers. No difference (using clean snapshots)

Hi all,
I had the same issue on Win7(Host) with Virutal box 4.1.12
For windows 2000 Server Simple fix that work for me:
I seen the below on another thread and what I seen was the memory size. But the tread was for something else. I too had 128MB of memory set!
Adapter type: VirtualBox Graphics Adapter Chip type: VBOX DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Memory size: 8MB/32MB Adapter string: VirtualBox Video Adapter Bios information: Version 0xB0C2
Once I change the memory to 32 MB. The bug gone away!
I now have full screen! 1280 by 920 in my windows 2000 server Guest VM.
I think that the driver needs to be fix to work with more that 32MB of memory!
