Client Xorg crashes running gnome on OpenSolaris 131 on top of Linux

Reported by: Robert Krawitz Owned by:
Component: guest additions Version: VirtualBox 3.1.2
Keywords: Xorg segv segmentation violation GNOME Cc:
Guest type: Solaris Host type: Linux

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

Host: OpenSUSE 11.1 64 bit Guest: OpenSolaris build 131 VirtualBox 3.1.2 (reinstalled guest additions after upgrade)

When I log in to the OpenSolaris guest, if I select a GNOME session the (client) X server crashes, leaving the (attached) Xorg.0.log (attachment name: Xorg.0.broken). If I select the xterm-only session it stays up. The client configuration is also attached.

Note that this does not happen with OpenSolaris build 129. I skipped 130 for various unrelated reasons.

I hate to say this, but given that the VirtualBox guest drivers are nowhere in the stack trace, might this not be an OpenSolaris/X.Org bug?

comment:2 by Robert Krawitz, 14 years ago

This doesn't happen if the guest additions are removed.

Might be the same as http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=13540 - in one of the backtraces there, all addresses are the same except the last one, which is in the same function but a bit earlier. (I got that by googling for "sse2_composite_over_8888_8888 crash" by the way).

Go ahead and close this if desired. Build 132 is stable w/3.1.2.
