Description
I've noticed that the VirtualBox installer hangs when the DropBox daemon is also running. It'll sit there for ages until I kill the DropBox process and then it will continue fine. This has been happening for all the recent versions (I first noticed it about 4 or so minor versions ago). I've not changed the DropBox version ever since I installed it. I never had this hanging problem with the VirtualBox installer before I installed DropBox. I'm running DropBox 0.6.570 on Windows XP SP3. DropBox itself doesn't give any problems -- the only problem I have is that the VirtualBox installer hangs if I don't kill DropBox.

Apparently this is a fairly common (still present) problem:
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=31664 http://keithelder.net/2011/01/22/virtualbox-hangs-during-installation-ndash-close-dropbox/
Also NB that some people have had some success getting "stalled installs" to complete if they first disable all network adapters, (re-enable after installation, like for cisco vpn ones, etc.)
or "pull the plug" on the LAN cable first:

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
Please also note that all networking functionality is unavailable until this portion of the installer completes. If you don't kill DropBox to finish the installation, you also cannot do anything that requires a network connection.
