Can't install Guest Additions for Debian

I install Debian 5.0.3 "Lenny" with kernel 2.6.26-2-686 under VirtualBox 3.1.2. I try install Guest Additions for Linux, call It shows:"Building the VirtualBox Guest Aditions kernel modules!" In /var/log/vboxadd-install.log is: Makefile:23: *Error: unable to find the sources of your current Linux kernel. Specify KERN_DIR=<directory> and run Make again.. Stop. In /var/log/VBoxGuestAdditions.log is: Starting the VirtualBox Guest Additions! (modprobe vboxguest failed) Starting VirtualBox Guest Addition service VirtualBox Additions module not loaded!

I have Linux source in /usr/src/linux- and set KERN_DIR, but Make don't see this

I believe that it is wanting you to install the headers and build-essentials.

Install DKMS and it should take care of this for you. Then re-install the guest additions.

If it fails again then you will need to install the headers and build-essentials manually.

This should help as well
