#5901 closed enhancement (obsolete)
Linux guest additions: Screen size does not match window size until VM window is resized — at Version 7

Description (last modified by )
When I startup a Linux VM, the initial screen is much smaller than the available VM window area. The videodriver resizes the screen to its proper size once the VM window is resized by minimizing / maximizing or dragging. It would be good if virtualbox would detect and use the right screensize for Linux guests immediately at startup.

Host and guest: Windows XP 32 bit SP3 host&guest
The problem: the guest doesn't auto adjust at the startup of the OS/GA drivers, VB 3.2.4
Steps:
- The guest is up and running. With auto adjust enabled, maximize the VM window, the guest auto adjusts it screen resolution.
- Reboot the guest.
- The guest OS starts to load. The video driver initializes the screen resolution set in guest's Display Properties (800x600 for example). The OS completes it loading process, including the GA, but it doesn't do an auto adjust operation. So the guest OS doesn't match the VM window, unless I manually resize the VM window.

No, you forgot to insert a space prior to 1., 2., etc. I've fixed that.

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
+1 for annoying - when I start a Linux VM maximised on Windows I have to "Restore Down" and Maximise again before the videodriver resizes the screen.
