Full screen on Mac OSX removes the menu bar and dock

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

Full screen on Mac OSX removes the menu bar and dock, it never replaces it after coming out of full screen.

Also I used to put the virtual box in full screen on a second monitor, so it was really helpful that the menu bar and doc stayed how it used to be before the latest update. It didn't used to do what it does now (hiding the dock)

What you describe should not happen. I understand you right, that when you switch to fullscreen the Dock & Menubar hides & when you switch back to normal screen the Dock & Menubar doesn't show again? Also about your second bug: Before 3.1.2 the Dock & Menubar hides even when you you have VirtualBox on the second screen. This behavior us now changed. If VirtualBox is opened on a second screen (which is not the primary screen), nothing is done with the Dock & the Menubar.

You understand me correctly. To add some extra information changing the focused application brings the doc and menu bar back. Bring VirtualBox back into focus (not in full screen) and the dock and menu bar hide again. I have to close the VirtualBox (suspend the machine) and reopen it again.

And thank you for the second point :)

Similar situation on my Mac (last-gen Mini running Snow Leopard). It seems to mess with the Dock prefs somehow. After coming out of full screen, the Dock is missing. If I open the Dock prefs and "Turn Hiding On" then unset the same pref, it reverts to normal behavior. Also, I could previously access the Menu Bar by moving the mouse to the top of the full-screen window, but that failed in the 3.12 update.

It gets weirder. I found this (and other) behaviors so pernicious that I tried to go back to the previous Virtualbox version (3.10) only to find the problem persisted, even after an uninstall. In the end, I had to revert the entire system from a backup to get rid of the problem -- so whatever is going on is "going deep" and probably a very bad thing.
