BSOD at Windows XP environment with intel HW RAID

Reported by: papillon Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 3.0.8

Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows

Description (last modified by Frank Mehnert)

Export a vmdk from source PC,and import it to target PC. When I execute VB and boot the vmdk,it seem going well. But using the vmdk several minutes, the computer's hdd sound click noise and host OS report 0x0000007f error with bule screen of death. It's reproducible problem.

The vmdk works at source PC without any problem. I'm thinking it is related in Intel RAID tool/driver or something...

Source PC : mobile Sempron Notepc / Windows XP Home SP2 Target PC : Corei5-860 / DDR3 4GB / GA-P55M-UD2 @F3 bios / ST3150541AS x2 @ PCH RAID1 / Windows XP Pro SP3 vmdk : Windows XP Pro SP2

Well, if your *host* computer makes noises and crashes, then I'd say there's a problem with a hard disk. This has nothing to do with VirtualBox and I'm afraid we can't help you there.

Thanks, but I already test the computer with several tools like Windows Memory Diagnosis. And my WindowsXP does not report any BOSD error exclude VirtualBox...

Attach a minidump (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263). Keep in mind that I will close this ticket if the crash has nothing to do with any VirtualBox code. We are not here to debug your hardware problems.

If there's a hard disk problem, then you obviously shouldn't use memory diagnosis tools.
