VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND for all hard disks after absence of physical hard disk

Reported by: Harald Stuebinger Owned by:

Description

I am working with guest Windows XP. Unfortunately, the power supply of the external physical hard disk was switched off during work with virtualbox.

Of course, the guest operating system crashes as a result.

I restarted the system and also connected the external hard disk to the system.

However, the Virtual box main window shows for all guests

Could not lock the settings file '/Volumes/Machines/Machines/Windows_XP_Professional_32bit/Windows_XP_Professional_32bit.xml' (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).

I don't know what to do to solve the problem.

Please support me.

I am using Mac OS X Leopard as host.

I found the problem.

Seems that there was created a new folder "Machines" during absence of the external hard disk. Don't know why, but I believe it was created by Virtualbox automatically.

When the external hard disk becomes available, then there is a conflict and it was renamed to "Machines 1". After deleting "Machines" and restarting the system, the external hard disk is again available with path "../Machines".
