i've removed the virtualbox package and installed it again. and i've found the following forum post http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=20526 which describes as similar, but not identical problem. the described workaround renders my system unbootable. i had to step back to an older bootenvironment. the failure message while booting is: vboxdrv: mod_install failed! rc=6 . rc=6 cannot be found in the ipsinstall.sh shell script. additionally i've the dmeg output of my system while adding the webcam device.",defect,closed,USB,VirtualBox 3.0.4,fixed,,,Windows,Solaris
