Please could you check if the image file is still accessible for reading and writing from the host? I want to make sure that there isn't a problem on the host (which host is that, btw)?

And please attach the VBox.log file of your last session.

Sadly, I have run VBoxManage too many times trying to restart the system and the log has been overwritten.

The system is a Ubuntu Intrepid 2.6.27-14 32bit

When trying to re-add the VHD, I received:

Failed to open the hard disk /data/files/WS2008/WS08_RTM_x86_EnterpriseVHD.vhd.
Could not get the storage format of the hard disk '/data/files/WS2008/WS08_RTM_x86_EnterpriseVHD.vhd' (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED).

The file is not recognised as a valid VHD image anymore it seems. Can you send me the following parts of the image please so I can check what went wrong?

  • The last 512 bytes
  • The first few Kilobytes

Send the files to Alexander _dot_ Eichner _at_ sun _dot_ com

I'm having the same here.

Host: Windows 7 Prof (build 7600)

Guest: Windows Server 2003 R2

How can I send that bytes and Kbytes? I don't know what to do to get that... All that I know is that I have so many things installed on that VM, don't wanna even think about re-installing all again...

VirtualBox can repair corrupted VHD images to some extent with a recent release, closing. If there is still a problem with corrupted images please reopen.
