with passthrough enabled for the DVD drive and all appropriate software installed:
PowerDVD 6 tested in Windows xp professional
vlc gxine totem kaffene tested in fedora and ubuntu All software for playing dvds is present INCLUDING libdvdcss
When an encrypted DVD is inserted, the media player opens and the guest hangs with no visible errors. and DVD playback does not star.  On the other hand non encrypted DVDs play as expected.

The Only error I can report is kaffiene reports that it can't verify the DVD drive's DMA status permission denied or no such device.

One final thing to note. sometimes the player will have to be forced to quit, or the vm crashes. This problem still exists in the 2.2.4 release today",defect,closed,other,VirtualBox 2.2.2,fixed,,,other,Mac OS X
