Multimedia keys not passed through to guest

Description
I have a Cherry eVolution STREAM keyboard. The following buttons are not passed through to the guest when pressed:
volume down mute volume up previous track play/pause next track
At least, according to xev. They work in the host just fine.
The host is Vista Home Basic x64. The guest is Debian using Linux 2.6.26.
